Damage caused by folding the parchment.
Fractures develop when it is necessary to bind the parchment sheets or to fold one parchment sheet in order to make it more convenient to handle and store. When binding, parchment sheets cut out of leather were folded (broken) in half according to certain rules, into folios (Latin bi-folio) comprised of two sheets and four pages.

Murre. Murdejoon.
The change in appearance caused by the collapse of the parchment.
During binding, the parchment leaves cut out of the leather were folded (broken) according to specific rules into a bi-folio consisting of two pages and four pages. The fracture surfaces of parchment leaves that were folded in half retained their fracture lines and deformation even when they were kept as separate leaves unbound from the bindings.

Murre. Murdejoon.
Kokkuvolditud ürikule iseloomulik deformatsioon. Selgelt on nähtavad murdejooned.
Deformation characteristic of a folded document. Fracture lines are clearly visible. As a result of the deformation, the parchment is no longer flat after unfolding.

Jäigad ja silmatorkavalt püstised voldid esinevad pärgamendi kokkumurrete piirkondades. br>
Stiff and conspicuously upright folds occur in areas of parchment folds.
