Mechanical removal of the text and overwriting.
In order to correct the text, it was possible to partially abrade or wash off the text and write a new one. This was a great advantage of parchment compared to the other writing materials used at the time. Parchment from which one text has been completely removed and replaced with another new text is called a palimpsest.
